Property Rewiring

Upgrades & Repairs

Many electrical systems can be cost effectively repaired in order to bring them largely in line with BS7671:2008 and therefore qualifying for a satisfactory certificate. Reports

Reports are produced as a result of detailed inspections undertaken in accordance with our regulations - BS7671:2008. The information produced is clear, accurate and well presented, any defects which may be found are coded 1 to 4, where code 1 items require urgent attention a code 4 items while not complying with current standards may not necessarily be unsafe or require rectification.

Regulations at Work..

The Electricity at Work Regulations, Health & safety at Work Act 1974, The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994 and BS7671:2008 all collude to place responsibilities on all employers and employees to ensure that any electrical system, installation or item of equipment is verified as being safe, Inspections, reports and PAT testing are effective ways of ensuring your obligations are satisfied.

PAT Testing

Bailey & Birch provide an efficient, qualified & expert PAT Testing service for all types of client. We can test a single item of equipment, or PAT test a few items in say a rented property, shop, ·restaurant. ·We will test all the equipment in whole office buildings, schools, hotels, factories and almost any place of work. Our engineers PAT test, certify and log 1000's of items every month

EACH INDIVIDUAL ITEM TESTED WILL RECEIVE:

Visual examination of each item. ·Electrical instrument tests, ·Soft test to IT equipment where appropriate with insulation readings limited. ·Detailed reports with numeric logging system Individual labelling of each item Certification submitted for each item tested Inclusion of each individual test within our data base.Certificates can be quickly posted out and or emailed to you.

An experienced electrical inspection engineer shall be appointed to your work. ·Our Inspectors are fully competent to carry out individual analysis and make considered assessments to ensure accurate and detailed reports are submitted.

The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994 require that equipment be safe and in conformity with the principle elements of the safety objectives for electrical equipment set out in section 3 of the Regulations. In service testing of portable, electrical apparatus is carried out by our experienced electricians (not a semi skilled pat test machine operator) ensuring expertly considered and useful outcomes are produced.

Fire Alarms

Bailey & Birch have many years experience in servicing, maintaining and installing fire alarm systems to BS5839. All types are included from the smallest smoke alarm system for dwellings to substantially sized fully addressable digital systems as are fitted in hotels, factories, schools etc.  Unlike many alarm companies, Bailey & Birch is NICEIC Approved giving a cast iron assurance of conformity with the requirements of local authorities and insurers. New research has revealed that business owners, landlords,  homeowners are risking lives and property by not getting their electrics fully checked, leaving potentially deadly faults lurking in thousands of buildings

An NICEIC survey revealed that nearly nine out of ten (89%) homeowners and an undisclosed amount of business owners don't really think about getting their electrics fully tested, with eighty eight percent (88%) confessing that getting their gas boiler checked is more important to them. Over a third (32%) admitted they have never had the electrics fully tested.

That's why NICEIC has launched 'MOT Your Property', a national consumer safety campaign warning about the dangers of neglected electrics. Fronted by home-improvement expert, Linda Barker, the new campaign encourages those whose property is over 10 years old or commercial buildings 5 years or more to employ a registered electrician to carry out a Periodic Inspection Report, which acts like an MOT for the property.

Linda Barker, NICEIC spokesperson, says: "I've teamed up with the NICEIC to encourage consumers to get their buildings checked and make electrical safety a top priority. Even though it's tempting to try and save a few pennies where possible at the moment, a simple electrical MOT could save lives.
