7671:2008 - Requirements for Electrical Installations
Also known
as the IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition
This publication
forms our UK National Safety Standard, all electricians are
obliged by law to comply with this standard. One of the fundamental
requirements of BS7671:2001 is that an electrician tests his
own installation work and produces his own compliant certificate
for all work and jobs no matter how small.
Memorandum of Guidance to the Electricity at Work Regulations
1989
These
regulations apply to work on or near electrical equipment
and provide safety requirements which lay down standards of
electrical safety for employers, employees and the self-employed
in respect of matters which are within their control. This
publication is a requirement for Approved Contractors

are absolute and some are reasonably practicable.

The Code

of emergency lighting systems in buildings.
Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of
Electrical Equipment
This Code
is commonly referred to as the PAT Code of Practice, and gives
specific details on the frequency of inspections and testing
required for Portable Equipment in most environments.
Appendix 1 to BS 7671 details a number of other useful British
Standards in numerical order
Appendix 2 to BS 7671 details associated statutory regulations,
such as The Supply of Machinery Regulations: 1992.
